Bed Bug Identification And Control
Bedbugs are generally nocturnal and feed solely upon the blood of humans and warm-blooded animals

What is a Bed Bug?

Bed bugs are parasites that have existed since ancient times. They are small wingless insects that are reddish brown, flattened, oval, and wingless, with microscopic hairs that give them a banded appearance. They grow to about 1/8" in length. Bedbugs are generally nocturnal and feed solely upon the blood of humans and warm-blooded animals.

Why do I have them?

Bed bugs are not a housekeeping or sanitation issue.
They are efficient hitchhikers and are usually unknowingly transported in or on luggage, clothing, or other belongings that are carried by individuals as they travel. Current outbreaks have been traced to increased domestic and international tourism. This is a particular problem for hotels, motels, and apartments, where turnover of occupants is constant. Infestations can also occur inadvertently by bringing infested furniture, mattresses, or used clothing to one's household. Also, bed bugs may travel between units in multi-unit buildings after originally being brought into the building by one of the aforementioned routes. The bugs can wander between adjoining apartments through voids in walls and holes though which wires and pipes pass.

Are they dangerous?

Although bed bugs can dine on any warm-blooded animal, they primarily dine on humans. They do not transmit diseases, but their bites can become red, itchy welts on skin.

How do you get rid of them?

Bed bugs are extremely difficult to eradicate. That's why we use the best insecticides on the market and provide follow up visits for one fee.

Initial Service - Detailed inspection of the affected and adjoining rooms, then we devise a treatment plan that entails a targeted treatment of bed frame, mattress, box springs, furniture, behind baseboards, switch covers, and other areas where bed bugs tend to hide, bed bug proof box spring and mattress encasements are available for extra protection.

Follow-up- A series of follow up visits may be required and will be scheduled within 14 days of the initial treatment. If any activity is noted, the original service technician will come out to re-treat any areas of activity.

Can I do it myself?

Due to the complexity of treatment and the time required, bed bugs are generally not a pest many people have success in eradicating.

Beware when purchasing pesticides and other products online as many simply do not work, and pesticides can be harmful to people and pets if they are misused or mixed improperly.
